Types of Graphic Editors:
  1. Bit map
    • also known as raster
    • bit map or raster graphic define an image pixel by pixel
    • photos are bit map graphics
    • if you zoom real close, the image consists of small squares of colors
    • if you try to make a bit map image too large, it will pixelate.
  2. Vector
    • vector graphic define an image by the path an line needs to follow to create the image.
    • if you zoom in real close, the image consists of the lines that make up the image
    • a vector image always look the same, if you magnify the image or shrink the image.
Illustrator is a vector graphic editor.
