There are more formatting options in OpenOffice the Google Docs.
Some of these include:
  • merge cells
  • boarder Line Styles
  • background color
  • tabs can be set within  a table -- a decimal tab is used in this table
  • adjust Text Flow
  • to keep the comma in the numbers you will need to use Number format ...
  • to use the tab key with in a table - use <ctrl> key with the <tab> key
